Virginia (Feb10-17)

I got to take a trip to see a good friend of mine who lives near DC. Unfortunately, Carter became very sick while on the plane. Luckily, I had infant Motrin in my small bag of allowed liquids. It started to wear off though during our layover in Cincinatti waiting for our connecting flight which was delayed and his temperature spiked to over 104 degrees. The plus side is that he slept through the entire day of traveling. Poor baby!

Once we were there I had a friend with plenty of experience dealing with sick children. Cynthia and her husband Reyes have 4 adorable children; Hunter-8, Riley-6, Piper-3 and Delaney-9 mo. Carter ended up going to urgent care twice and had a full work up the 2nd time. The conclusion was a full blown double ear infection and mild pneumonia. Oh, and he had a reaction to his antibiotics. We spent the first part of the week at the house. He had spurts of time when the Motrin/Tylenol was working and he felt up to playing with the kids. His favorite part was "cookin'" in the play kitchen. Riley would always come home from school and ask if Carter felt like cooking...or jumping on the bed (that was another favorite for the kids). He had a blast playing with the kids every chance he felt up to it. By the end of the week we finally had the infection taken care of and were able to go to Mt. Vernon for a little sight seeing. Cynthia's family had already been there a few times before, so they ran around outside with a beautiful view of the Potomic River, while Carter and I took the tour of George Washington's house. It was very interesting and I'm sure Carter learned a lot while he napped in the carrier on my back. The Ergo is so awesome (my baby carrier) that Cynthia even ordered one for herself after we left...sorry about that Reyes.

I owe a huge thank you to Cynthia for taking care of us for the week!

Ahh, my poor baby doesn't feel good :-(

Day at the Snow (Pinecrest)

Well we can't just step outside for snow this year, but Cory sure likes not having to shovel it! I wonder if Carter and Morro felt homesick from our brief return to the snow. It's amazing how quickly your body adjusts--it's cold! We had fun playing for the day and I'm pretty sure Carter and Morro both stayed warm.

...and there's probably at least 1 or 2 things I've left out. I guess I'd better get busy!

Christmas Celebrations

We had several Christmas experiences this year and Carter had a blast opening all of his presents and playing with all the new toys, grandparents, aunts and uncles and his cousin. I've decided to list each Christmas celebration separately, so they're below in chronological order. I know it appears that Christmas was all about Carter getting presents (which he did get a lot of) but it was also nice to enjoy time with family, and everything else that comes with Christ's birth.

Presents at Home

Santa must've known we wouldn't be home for Christmas because he filled our stockings early. Carter enjoyed the head start on opening presents.
